RaQ
From CobaltFAQs
Mass web-hosting appliance, targetted mainly at ISPs.
Developed in response to popular demand for Qube functions by ISPs who wanted something easier to rackmount.
Several products were developed in the RaQ product line:
The RaQ 1 and RaQ 2 were powered by a MIPS CPU.
RaQ 3 switched to an AMD K6-2 300 MHz CPU, and also introduced Chili!soft ASP capabilities. Cobalt subsequently acquired Chili!soft.
RaQ 4 bumped the CPU to 450 MHz, and came in three flavors: a "plain" RaQ 4, a RaQ 4i model, and the RaQ 4r model which had RAID 1 mirroring on two hard drives.
RaQ XTR was next. The first server to have four removable hard drives in a 1RU form factor, it was an ill-fated product. Rushed in production during the Sun acquisition of Cobalt Networks, the early 733 MHz and 933 MHz models had severe problems with data corruption, especially under high load. The XTR was re-released almost a year later with an 850 MHz or 1 GHz CPU, but was never a high selling product.
RaQ 550 was the last in the RaQ line.
